ARUA CITY: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4, 2025

Christian Joseph’s preaching was an eye-opener to the congregation during mid-day prayers at the Paradise church in the center of Arua City on Wednesday.

Paradise is a multi-denominational church that hosts preachers from all proven Christian religions and faith. If offers communal prayer and counselling services mainly targeting the bussiness community and urban dwellers between 1:00pm and 2:00pm East African Standard Time from Monday to Friday.

Joseph said temptation is the foundation of all sins and is also the cause of the downfall of many churches and ministries.

“This is why many pastors are fornicating and living adulterous lives. They put on the garment of praise but they do not stand on the truth,” he said.

The preacher who also leads the Etori gatekeepers’ ministry in Obicaku chapel, Etori parish of the church of Uganda outlined three ways through which temptation comes into the life of a Christian.

These are imitating or copying the lifestyle of someone, being haunted by past experiences and the influence of secular world.

“Eve wanted her and her husband to be like God and she got tempted. If you want to look at the lifestyle of someone, you will get tempted,” explained Joseph.

“When Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees, h said they pray so that people can see them. They were hypocrites who did not stand on the truth.”

He explained that when you become born again, you see your old self coming back to fight you. That means that you are still not yet dead in flesh but the truth is only those who are dead in flesh but alive in the spirit can lead a ministry.

“You can preach, be rich through the prayers but when you are not dead in flesh, you will die and go to hell,” warned Joseph.

He added that those who focus on the physical will always be trapped in the physical and that is how the world around us influences them into temptation.

“They are watching evil-themed comedies, listening to horror news and say the world is modernized, but it is actually spiritually dead world. If you look with spiritual eyes, you see demons all around,” he said.

He called on the Christians to mind their dressing and always ask God what they want to communicate to the people so as to steer clear of temptations.
