The organizing committee for the 7 Edition of Karamoja cultural event which is scheduled to take place on the 30th August -3rd September 2022 is currently working like donkeys to make the event colorful.
With just few hours to the start of the event which is expected to showcase the cultural dressing, foods, dances, peace dialogues between all categories of people (elders, youths, women, religious leaders, district leaders among others), Abim Secondary school has given their entire space to run activities including other classrooms that will be used to accommodate visitors for the whole 5days.
Hon. Janet Akech Okori-moe the woman Member of Parliament Abim district confirmed her full attendance while appearing at the venue during preparations day on the 29th August 2022 at Abim secondary school.
Hon. Akech arrived at the venue to scout how the organisation is ongoing as a host mother and applauded the energetic youths doing the arrangements for different sitting places like tents, chairs which were offered by different partners to grace the event.
Brian Owilli Aka Mc Brian bro a youth in Abim district while appearing at the venue expressed his happiness for the event since it will expose their tribe out to visitors who will attend and could not wait to showcase his skills on the microphone.
He welcome all visitors to attend the gala in advance from different districts in Karamoja region and outside the region and asked that people come with an open mind to explore new things from the event since it is organized for the purpose of exposing Karamoja.
Geo Robin a business man in Abim town said that this event will boost his business because he expects to sell his drinks at the venue since it’s meant for all activities and he encouraged other business community around Karamoja to join him and flourish during the event.
He added that despite showcasing the different cultural activities, the people also need to compare current things that relate to development which change life and encouraged fellow youths to aim at getting good amount of money for all these five days that Abim will be so busy.
Mr. Cosmas James Okidi commercial officer Abim district who heads team for giving space in running different businesses appreciate the commitment of Abim business partners and outsiders for showing interest in participating by registering to run their businesses
Today the 29thAugust 2022 Mr. Okidi was at the venue to ensure fair slots for space in accordance to what kind of business the person will showcase.
He assured people that slots for businesses is given regardless of tribe, where you are from because this is the chance to everyone to learn and gain while confirming that since last week there has been high demand for cultural dresses, caps and shoes because people want to appear like they mean pride for their culture.
Over 10,000 visitors are expected to be in Abim secondary school for 7 Edition Karamoja cultural gala starting on the 30th August -3rd September 2022.
